As one of Australia’s favourite home-grown loudspeaker brands, Richter has been delivering award-winning, Australian designed and engineered audio products for over 30 years. And now, following on from the recent Award-Winning THOR Series 6 Subwoofer (Sound & Image 2019 Subwoofer of the Year below $5000) comes the next models in the Series 6 range – the long-awaited MERLIN S6 and WIZARD S6.
With MERLIN being one of the first loudspeakers Richter ever produced, and the WIZARD being regarded as the biggest selling Australian Loudspeaker of all time (not to mention the 2017 Award “Ultimate Product of the Last 30 years”), Richter has once again set about redefining the affordable speaker.
The Series 6 project focused on delivering a new range of Loudspeakers that meet today’s customer’s expectations and equipment choices. This meant listening to and responding to the market by designing a range of Loudspeakers that raise the bar from a visual and entertainment perspective.
Great attention has been paid to the development of an all-new low-distortion soft dome tweeter and new 6 ½” lightweight but extremely stiff paper coated midrange and bass drivers that have allowed senior engineer Dr Martin Gosnell to create magic with a new crossover design approach using high-quality acoustic polypropylene caps, air-cored and ferrite core inductors as well as a huge laminated core inductor feeding the bass on the new Wizard S6. This results in improved efficiency making them easier to drive even when powered by more modest amplifiers.
Staying true to the comment of the brand’s founder “I’m not in the audiophile industry, I’m in the entertainment industry,” Series 6 has been designed to be an exciting and engaging entertainment experience that will have you digging through that record and CD collection or streaming your favourite playlist all night long!
In attendance and ready to answer your questions on Saturday will be the senior engineer behind the Richter Series 6, Dr Martin Gosnell.
Heralded as one of Australia’s top loudspeaker designers, Martin received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with first-class honours from the University of Technology at Sydney in 2001.
Awarded the prestigious IEE engineering prize by the Institute of Electrical Engineers in 1998, Martin has worked as an engineer and scientist for CSIRO and by contract to the University of Queensland and Newcastle, and as a design engineer and research scientist for consumer electronics manufacturing companies in the areas of computer-brain interface, intelligent recognition systems, laser applications and audio for which he has received eight industry design awards.
